You’ll hear all the best bits on this three-hour guided walk of Newcastle, while visiting many of the city’s most significant sites. We’ll take you inside the Cathedral Church of St. Nicholas and then Newcastle’s Castle – both parts of the historic core of the city. Built in 1080 by one of the sons of William the Conqueror, Newcastle’s castle has defended against Scottish attacks, including a failed assault by William Wallace (of Braveheart fame). St. Nicholas Cathedral church is first mentioned in 1092 and developed as the primary parish in Newcastle. Newcastle United's Worst Ever Players , Hörbuch...

Did Wayne Fereday ruin your life? Was Silvio Maric directly responsible for your high dentist bills due to the constant gnashing and grinding of your molars? Did Billy Askew's hair give you nightmares, or did the merest mention of Alain Boumsong's name have the same effect as the aftermath of a Vindaloo? Then this is the book you've been waiting for. Relive all your least favorite Newcastle United moments by taking a journey back through the labyrinth of frustration, disillusionment, and failure that is Newcastle United's worst ever players. Grimace, cringe, and wince as you take a trip down the derelict end of memory lane, through a history of Newcastle United's most inept, incompetent, and overpaid exponents of the beautiful game. Players who panicked whenever the ball came within 20 yards of them, players who would struggle to make the bench for St. Joseph's School under-sevens team and players who surprised you by managing to put their boots on the right feet. If you've ever watched a Newcastle United player and wondered how they managed to turn professional and you didn't, if you were left speechless as they were allowed to continue spreading their misery well into the second half or dumbfounded at the fact they'd managed to convince someone to pay them a wage to stumble around the field and offer nothing more to the cause than the corner flag, you'll find them all here. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Andy Patterson. Audio sample: http://samples.audible.de/bk/acx0/033702/bk_acx0_033702_sample.mp3. Digital audiobook in aax.

Ask A Footballer

'Ask a Footballer is a fine read, showcasing how an unassuming man has forged success, winning the Premier League twice, the FA Cup and the Champions League' Matthew Syed, The Times Ever wondered what it's REALLY like to be a Premier League footballer? My name is James Milner and I'm not a Ribena-holic. Let me share insights into what it's like being a professional footballer, across my different experiences with Leeds United, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Manchester City and now Liverpool (not forgetting a six-match loan spell at Swindon). Plus my highs - and a few too many lows - playing for England. There isn't a current player who's been playing Premier League football as long as I have, and that gives me a pretty rare perspective into how the top-flight game has changed over the past seventeen years. In this book, I explain how a footballer's working week unfolds - what we eat and how we prepare for matches technically, tactically, mentally and physically - and talk you through the ups and downs of a matchday. I reveal my penalty-taking techniques, half-time team talks and the differences between playing against Lionel Messi, Wilfried Zaha and Jimmy Bullard. I've played for managers ranging from Terry Venables, Peter Reid and Sir Bobby Robson to Martin O'Neill, Fabio Capello and Jurgen Klopp. I tell you what it's like sharing a training ground and a dressing-room with team-mates such as Lee Bowyer, Mario Balotelli and Mo Salah. I also reveal the behind-the-scenes work that went into Liverpool's Champions League success - and the celebrations that followed. So this isn't an autobiography. The whole point of Ask A Footballer is that you, the fans, asked me questions and I have used my own experiences to answer them. I hope you like it, and don't find it too boring.

Last Exit (British Band)

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Last Exit was a British jazz fusion band formed in Newcastle upon Tyne England in 1974, and is best remembered as the group Sting was in before finding stardom with The Police. The band name came from the book Last Exit to Brooklyn. Last Exit was composed of drummer Ronnie Pearson (also of the Phoenix Jazzmen), guitarists John Hedley & then Terry Ellis, keyboardist Gerry Richardson, and bassist and singer Sting. The band was a leading act around Newcastle for several years. They emulated the rock-jazz-fusion style of Return to Forever and were 'ahead of their time' with their skillful solos and driving beat. They released a single in 1975, Whispering Voices (a Richardson composition), and in 1976, Last Exit recorded some demos in the Pathway Studios in London. The demo made little impact, but did impress Virgin Records head Richard Branson, who signed Sting for his publishing company before their friendship soured. In 1977, Last Exit moved to London but after a few gigs half of the band returned to Newcastle, and Sting and Richardson started looking for other jobs.
