Gain a deeper understanding of your camera and learn how to capture fantastic images in the dark with this Night Photography Workshop. With help and guidance from an expert, you’ll learn how to photograph architecture, street scenes, and moving water at night – as well as how to capture light trails from moving vehicles. There’ll be plenty of one-to-one support throughout, and you’ll be shown how to get creative control over your camera, as well as how to use a torch to ‘light paint’ the features you want to stand out. With a choice of Newcastle, Durham or York city centres, you can take your pick of where you’d like to explore. What's Included? You’ll need to bring your camera, along with a tripod and a torch. On arrival at your meeting point, you’ll be welcomed by your instructor, before heading to the workshop location with the rest of the class. You’ll learn how to set up and operate your camera in the dark, before exploring the city centre of your choice, photographing architecture, street scenes, light trails from moving vehicles, and more. Validity Your voucher is valid for 12 months from the date of issue Please note you must have booked and taken your experience before the expiry date Participant guidelines Minimum age: 8 (under 18s must be accompanied by a full paying adult) You will need a camera that can have shutter speed, aperture, ISO and focus manually set ie DSLR or mirrorless You will need to bring a tripod and torch The experience involves walking a distance of under one mile, at a steady pace Toilets may not be available at the site The experience content, equipment used and restrictions may vary Availability The experience is available on selected nights (Tuesday, Thursday or Sunday) and times nights October to April. We recommend you book at least four weeks in advance to ensure that dates are available. All bookings are subject to availability. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence. This two hour experience will teach you how to take great images at night, using your camera’s manual settings to achieve exciting effects that you never thought possible. You’ll be taught about how to effectively use aperture, shutter speed, lighting and composition to enable you to take stunning images wherever you go. Enjoy taking photos of some of the most iconic landmarks in the country in this spectacular experience you’ll never forget. Participant guidelines Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult For this course, you will need to be at intermediate level of photography, know your way around the controls of your camera and want to build on the foundation of knowledge you already have The experience content, equipment used and restrictions may vary according to location Availability Your voucher is valid for 12 months from the date of issue. This experience is available on selected weekdays from September to April (with some availability in London during the summer). We recommend you book four to six weeks in advance to ensure that dates are available. All bookings are subject to availability. Please allow approximately 2 hours for the whole experience. The start and finish times will vary slightly throughout the year to enable you to get the best lighting in any season. What should I wear? You should wear flat soled shoes or boots and comfortable casual clothing suitable for the time of year and weather conditions. What about the weather? Bad weather may affect your experience. If your experience cannot take place due to the weather an alternative date will be offered to you. You are advised to contact the location the day before your experience. Additional information A tripod is recommended but not essential. You will need a DSLR camera (Digital Single Lens Reflex). A compact, standard digital camera will not be sufficient. Please call the supplier for further details and types of cameras to bring. There will be a maximum of eight people on the course. What about insurance?
